Old Aged Disney Princesses

The series, produced by Loryn Brantz for BuzzFeed, not only shows what each princess would look like, aesthetically, but also tells you what they accomplished after the movie. In this fictitious world, Ariel became a renowned marine biologist, Mulan became an ambassador for China and Cinderella lived on a farm in Vermont.

Disney Princes Get A Lifelike Makeover

We’ve seen Disney Princesses reimagined in every way possible, so it’s only fair that the boys should get a turn. These magnificent portraits are the work of Finnish graphic designer, Jirka Väätäinen. Which one do you like best?

Distractify reached out to the artist to learn more about his inspiration for these handsome reincarnations. Here’s what he had to say!

DFY: Did you grow up watching Disney movies?
Jirka: I sure did. The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules and Beauty and the Beast were some of my favourite films growing up.

DFY: Everyone has done something with Disney Princesses, but the Princes are rarely in the spotlight. Why did you choose to illustrate them?
Jirka: I had already received so much positive feedback for the Disney girls that I did, and people kept requesting the Princes as well. I thought now was a good time to give people what they wanted and challenge myself with something new.

DFY: Is there a particular Prince you identify with most?
Jirka: Not sure if there is one prince that I clearly identify myself with. But I have always enjoyed watching the stories of these humble guys like Aladdin and Hercules.

See more of Jirka’s awesome work at jirkavinse.com and see my Princess’s blog with his work here.

Disney says Frozen sequel is on its way

Frozen sequel will indeed cast its chilly spell over audiences: Disney has confirmed that Frozen 2 is officially on its way. According to the studio, Frozen directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee are developing the film along with producer Peter Del Vecho.

The news was announced Thursday by Disney CEO Bob Iger, Disney and Pixar Animation Studios chief creative officer  John Lasseter, and Josh Gad, the voice of Frozen’s snowy sidekick Olaf, during a Disney shareholders meeting. “We enjoyed making ‘Frozen Fever’ so much, and being back in that world with those characters,” Lasseter said, according to Disney. “Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel, and you will be hearing a lot more about it. And we’re taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that.”

News that there will be a sequel for what became the highest-grossing animated film of all time isn’t exactly surprising; hints about its existence have come previously from the likes of star Idina Menzel.

More Frozen is also hitting theaters this weekend in the form of “Frozen Fever,” a short that plays before Disney’s Cinderella. Meanwhile, an adaptation of the first movie is also headed to the stage, with songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez returning to flesh out the score, and director and screenwriter Jennifer Lee working on the book.

Lily James’ Cinderella Premiere Dress – A Fairy Tale Come to Life

Lily James’ Cinderella Premiere Dress Was Actually a Fairy Tale Come to Life

So far it’s been a very good day for girls who love princesslike fashion (if you haven’t seen yet, there’s news to digest!). When I first saw pictures of Lily James from last night’s Cinderellapremiere, I may or may not have let out an audible squeal—everything about her look was perfect! Red carpet choices rarely hold to the theme of a movie or event, but it’s kind of amazing when they do. Lily didn’t try to remind us she’s not Cinderella but instead completely embraced it right down to the tips of her Louboutin-clad toes.

The dress is Elie Saab couture, and with long sleeves, plenty of sparkle, and a construction that looks light as air, it totally feels like the kind of magical number a fairy godmother would whip up for you to wear to the party of your life. I mean, she is Cinderella in this.

From the back you can see the delicate netting used and properly admire that amazing train.

And because when you’re starring in a movie that’s kinda all about a shoe, you’ve gotta represent. Lily skipped simple sandals or pumps in favor of this over-the-top embellished lace pair from Christian Louboutin. I would’ve loved to see an actual glass slipper, but I get the constraints of physics and such.

For the final touch, she carried Charlotte Olympia’s clock clutch, a piece from the designer’s fairy-tale-inspired line.

Do you think this is the loveliest or what? Are you also so glad she didn’t just pick a pretty dress but instead played up the Cinderella thing?

Disney connected with some of today’s biggest shoe designers to reimagine her glass slipper and—guess what?—they’ll be available to purchase! I’m not sure if I’ve ever wanted to have my own Cinderella moment as much as I do now, in this moment.

(Here’s Nicholas Kirkwood’s offering).

Designers involved include Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, Nicholas Kirkwood, Charlotte Olympia, Jerome C. Rousseau, Stuart Weitzman, Paul Andrew, Alexandre Birman, and René Caovilla. In the U.S., you’ll be able to snap up a pair at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and Beverly Hills (retail prices weren’t shared but, let’s be honest. I don’t think these babies are going to be on the affordable side of things).
