Sex In The City 3?!

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker Instagram

Sarah Jessica Parker has sent the Sex And The City 3 rumour mill into overdrive.

Yesterday, the actress shared a rather Carrie Bradshaw-esque shot of herself walking out of Bloomingdale’s accompanied by a very cryptic caption.

Well. I guess the cat’s out of the (little brown) bag. As usual, we will keep you posted on every detail as we are able,’ she mysteriously stated on Instagram.

I’m under strict gag order until then. Xx, Sj.

Naturally, SJP looks seriously sassy in the picture wearing a fitted white mid-length dress and a pair of metallic heeled court shoes.

The 50-year-old’s long and wavy hair catches the wind as she struts past a group of admirers who try to capture her on camera.

Fans have been quick to interpret the A-lister’s words as confirmation that there’s a new movie in the pipelines. ‘SATC 3! SATC 3! SATC 3!‘ enthused one admirer who’s clearly as excited as me!

But before we all get totally carried away, another reason for SJP’s post has been offered and it’s not something we feel we can ignore.

The Hollywood star tagged her shoe range in the picture, leading some to believe that she was hinting at a possible collaboration with the department store.

She took part in a shoot for the retailer earlier in the day.

But until SJP confirms or denies the Sex And The City 3 news, we’re going to daydream about her on-screen reunion with Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.

Here are some of the best quotes from SATC!

SJP Footwear Collection – Carrie’s Shoes!

0318_SJP

SARAH JESSICA PARKER is launching her own footwear collection. A mere 15 years after first hitting our screens as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, and the actress has finally announced that she’s making her design debut – to be titled simply, SJP.

Rather fittingly, Parker has chosen to collaborate on the range with George Malkemus, CEO of Manolo Blahnik – the label that, as Bradshaw, she helped put firmly on the fashion map. The accessories line will also feature an edit of bags and a few trench coats.

“Because I got to play that role, I wore a lot of shoes, and by default I learned an enormous amount,” she told US Vogue, of her time on Sex and the City. “It’s hard to – no pun intended – walk away from that.”

The actress is taking inspiration from “great old-school labels like Charles Jourdan and Maud Frizon” for her collection, with the aim of offering “something different” – in terms of shape, colour, and price. Think pared-back, simple and elegant, with pumps and flats priced between $200 (£130), and $300 (£190), and bags for around $700 (£450).

“In a silly way, I think it’s what people have expected of me most because of Carrie Bradshaw,” she added. “We’re putting new colours together that people don’t typically do, just beautiful combinations that you wish existed in your closet. And in terms of bags, thinking about that period of the Seventies into the Eighties, what those women were carrying, taking away the bells and the whistles and hardware and really making it about the bag.”

“I don’t like a shoe to be too shiny. Sometimes it loses its chicness,” she explained. “That’s why suede is so nice – it takes colour so beautifully as opposed to calf.”

Parker is clearly designing what she knows – mixing her own personal style with influences from her childhood (grosgrain will feature prominently because she “grew up having to wear grosgrain hair ribbons every day”), plus her experience of walking countless red carpets in hundreds of pairs of heels over the years. Add to that the technical and business know-how of Malkemus and you’ve got a winning formula.

“We thought [about the metropolitan New York woman]. A beautiful coat, bag and pair of shoes – they all kind of go together. It seemed tight. It didn’t seem like we were trying to sell a bunch of junk to people,” she explained. “I grew up in a house where my mother had beautiful taste. She had no financial means, but she did her best. She would go to church tag sales in wealthy neighbourhoods and find all the beautiful navy blue Vuitton suits that the families had grown out of and donated to the church. We were raised seeing a lot of beauty and understanding what a well-made dress was.”
