New Fan-made Logo For 2020 Tokyo Olympics is more popular than official

I can’t remember many of the Olympic logos. But Japanese Twitter user vivakankan might have made one that will stick in my memory. Olympic logos are an important affair, since they need to make the show distinct, reflect the location, and look good in branding. The official Japanese logo, designed by Kenjiro Sato, looks like a shampoo brand, and has been accused of plagiarism.

Kankan, a Japanese designer and illustrator now living in Spain, had a better idea. His logo is in the shape of a traditional Japanese fan, used in theater or on hot days. It’s like a half of the Japanese flag’s sun, a recognizable symbol of Japan, bursting into a cloud of Olympic colors.

There’s even a snazzy animated version to boot!

Disney Princes Get A Lifelike Makeover

We’ve seen Disney Princesses reimagined in every way possible, so it’s only fair that the boys should get a turn. These magnificent portraits are the work of Finnish graphic designer, Jirka Väätäinen. Which one do you like best?

Distractify reached out to the artist to learn more about his inspiration for these handsome reincarnations. Here’s what he had to say!

DFY: Did you grow up watching Disney movies?
Jirka: I sure did. The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules and Beauty and the Beast were some of my favourite films growing up.

DFY: Everyone has done something with Disney Princesses, but the Princes are rarely in the spotlight. Why did you choose to illustrate them?
Jirka: I had already received so much positive feedback for the Disney girls that I did, and people kept requesting the Princes as well. I thought now was a good time to give people what they wanted and challenge myself with something new.

DFY: Is there a particular Prince you identify with most?
Jirka: Not sure if there is one prince that I clearly identify myself with. But I have always enjoyed watching the stories of these humble guys like Aladdin and Hercules.
